Miley Dumps Her Twitter Account

Okay, it’s the rumor mill. Who knows why she really dropped her Twitter account. But it does start to prompt some great questions:
- In a teenage dating relationship, is this controlling a person?
- At what point does encouragement to do something cross the line of control?
- How much should a boyfriend or girlfriend be able to tell you what to do or how to do it?
From an outsider’s perspective, I’d say that I’ve taken a look at her Twitter (that is when it existed) and I didn’t see anything to raise an eyebrow at. And if Billy Ray didn’t have a problem with it, then, to me, it does give a pause.
I’d use this story to, at the very least, talk about the topic of influences. Who’s influencing me? What kind of influence am I? Do I have the person in mind or do I influence based on my own needs?
This might be a great small group conversation.
